Weereewa Festival - Celebrating the spirit of Lake George
Infigen Energy was the major sponsor of the 2010 Weereewa Festival, a bi-annual event held on the shores of Lake George in New South Wales to celebrate the unique history and ecology of the region.
The theme for 2010, Winds of Change, was inspired by Infigen Energy’s Capital Wind Farm, which is seen as a symbol of the change sweeping through the local region, and more broadly across the world, with respect to the growth of renewable energy.
As a major sponsor of the Festival, Infigen Energy was pleased to fund the two headline events: the Weereewa Sculpture Prize, a sculpture competition and exhibition on the lakebed itself, and the En Plein Air weekend, a two-day painting event involving some of Australia’s most prominent landscape and environmental artists.
The theme for the 2012 festival is Two Days on the Lake: Living Lake, Living History. The two day event includes: a major sculpture competition and photographic exhibition; participatory art events for children and adults, dance, children’s choir; youth orchestra, performances, talks and visuals relating to the lake and its history; local food and wine stands; lake walks, book launch, a half day forum relating to the environment and human ecology; and a performance on the lake bed by Alice Giles, a world renowned harpist and lecturer.
