What is Solar Flagships Program?
The Solar Flagships program is part of the Australian Government’s $4.5 billion Clean Energy Initiative (CEI), announced in the May 2009 Budget.
To accelerate the commercialisation of solar power in Australia, the Government has committed $1.5 billion to support the construction and demonstration of up to four large-scale solar power plants in Australia, using solar thermal and photovoltaic (PV) technologies.

Infigen Suntech Australia Pty Limited is a consortium comprisingInfigen Energy,Australia’s leading specialist renewable energy business, andSuntech Power Holdings Co. Ltd,the world’s leading producer of crystalline silicon solar photovoltaic modules.
The Infigen Suntech proposal comprises up to 156 MW of solar PV power generation capacity across New South Wales.
The New South Wales Government granted planning approvals to the proposed Nyngan and Capital solar farms in December 2010, followed by granting planning approvals for Manildra and Moree solar farms in March 2011.
