Infigen launches #myfuture art competition
24 May 2013
Infigen Energy has launched the #myfuture art competition across Australian schools in the lead-up to Global Wind Day on 15 June 2013 to raise awareness of renewable energy. The theme of competition is ‘the choice of a future generation’.
Entrants should express their desired generation for the future through their chosen art form.
“Global Wind Day is not just about celebrating the achievements made and megawatts installed; it is also about understanding the facts about wind and other renewable energies and their competitiveness with traditional generation technologies,” said the communications coordinator from Infigen Energy.
“Australia is at a crossroads of having to choose between continuing with carbon and water-intensive technologies, or transforming to low carbon emission technologies for our electricity generation,” she said.
“We want to raise youth awareness of the importance of Australia’s legislated Renewable Energy Target and how decisions made today will affect the future,” she said.
Winners will be chosen by independent judges considering creativity, interest and how the art relates to the theme of ‘the choice of a future generation’. The competition has two age categories – 7 to 12 and 13 to 18, and the winners of each category will receive a Nexus 7 tablet.
Overall winner will also win a trip to a wind farm and climate science learning resources will be given to each winning artist’s school for their library or resource centre.
