Burrenbring Battery
The proposed Burrenbring Battery project is located on privately owned land on the Widi People’s Country, within the Isaac Region. It’s located approximately 8km north of the township of Nebo and 75km southwest of Mackay.
Iberdrola Australia is proposing to develop, construct, own and operate a large-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) called the Burrenbring Battery. The Burrenbring Battery will provide necessary stability for the Queensland electricity grid and provide a reliable source of energy in peak periods.
The Burrenbring Battery is proposed to have a capacity of up to 1000 MW, with 2-4 hours duration. That’s enough to power approximately 130,000 homes. The Project will connect directly into the existing Nebo Substation operated by Powerlink Queensland.
